Mariga's Now Rolling With a New Ride (Hummer H3)

Only a day after arriving back to the country the new Kenyan inter millan mid fielder Mcdonald Mariga traded his Toyota VX Land Cruiser for a brand new Hummer H3. It retails at around Sh 6 million. That may sound very expensive to a normal Kenyan like me, but it’s only a fraction of his monthly pay cheque!

The football star got into City Stadium amid cheers from hundreds of fans where he was appointed  Copa Coka-Cola Good Ambassador.
After being questioned about inter, he stated, “Mourinho is a great coach. He takes the pressure off you back. And when he sends you onto the field of play with a set of instructions you find it easy applying them. In Bernabeu when we played Bayern, he did what he normally does. Get into the stadium 30 or so minutes in advance and makes himself visible to fans who then proceed to taunt him and as such the fans forget about his players.”

As he juggled the ball, his Rwandan girlfriend (Alian Umutiomi) watched smiling from a distance. Alian Umutiomi told Pulse that she has been dating the star before his fame. “I started dating him before he started earning big bucks,” she stated {pic}
Later in the evening Mariga went to watch the Gor Mahia versus AFC Leopards match at Nyayo National Stadium.

Big Kev To Run For President 2017

True Blaq Entertainment CEO Big Kev has revealed he is planning to run for president in 2017.

Big Kev (Kevin Ombajo) said he is confident he has the qualities to inspire, motivate and rally people. On facebook, big Kev affirmed his ambitions. He stated:

“Beginning a great and exciting journey, Putting together wisdom, team and strategy for road to the presidency of the Republic Of Kenya 2017”

After being questioned about his seriousness, he stated:

“I’m dead serious, and shortly I will begin to display where we should be headed, not just as a nation, but as a people...how from nothingness we can build something, we can have hope, how when we put aside our differences we can achieve the seemingly impossible, mine is not purely rhetoric, when my country has needed me, I have stood together with ... See More my fellow countrymen. Disregarding gender, tribe, color or position. We have brought food where there was none, we have fought for peace where there was hardly any, we have fought for the underprivileged where they did not have a defender, we have taught the masses to exercise their democratic rights to be humans first and then citizens later, a time is coming when we will have to be Kenyans first and everything else later. For the sake of our generation, and those to come, I will once again stand up to be counted for Kenya. Brothers and Sisters NI WAKATI WETU!”

We like the determination and the motivation! Would you vote for him as President of Kenya???

Kev stated that he has led over ten campaigns for young people in the past and will use the spirit of Kenyans coming together and restoring values.

Kev, who is currently recovering after brain surgery, said he hasn’t chosen a running mate yet, or a constituency in which he will contest, but he is putting together a team right now.

He prides himself in working on a number of successful projects such as ‘Jaza Lorry’ and ‘Gutuka’ that involved young people.

Bharti Airtel to Set up it’s Headquarters in Nairobi

Bharti Airtel plans to set up its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital as Mr Manoj Kohli, chief executive of international operations was quoted on Dow Jones Newswires.

“The Board is pleased to report that the due diligence process has been completed and that the parties are finalising definitive agreements, which are expected to be signed in the coming days,” read part of the statement.

Zain had been looking for a buyer of its African operations since the first quarter of last year. In Feb this year it revealed that its board had accepted bid from India’s Bharti Airtel, but warned that the deal remains subject to completion of due diligence by the potential buyer and approvals from the relevant regulatory authorities.

“This potential transaction remains subject to due diligence, customary regulatory approvals and signing of final transaction documentation. There can be no assurance that a transaction will be consummated,” as stated in the Bharti’s website.

Bharti is to acquire Zain’s sub-Saharan assets for $10.7bn, excluding Morocco and Sudan. Bharti on Sunday announced that it has already secured the entire financing requirement of $ 8.3 billion for this transaction.

This as I expect, will lead to a fall in the per minute charge on the calls if Airtel will be innovative in pricing. Most tariffs in much of Africa are high compared to those in some other emerging markets. For example, zain Kenya’s lowest tariff is about $0.04 per minute, for on-net calls compared to India, where the lowest tariffs are as low as $0.01.

Bharti’s takeover of Zain’s Africa operations will place it in the league of the world’s top five biggest mobile firms and underscore Africa’s continued attractiveness to global operators looking for a presence in one of the remaining growth markets.

The division, with a footprint in 15 African countries, including Kenya accounts for 62 per cent of Zain’s 65 million subscriber base, but contributes only 15 per cent to the group’s net profit pointing to the low average revenue per user (ARPU) from the region
